Board of Directors
Victoria Binney, President
Vikki is a seasoned veteran of two years' organizing with EPOCA and regularly brings her three-month-old daughter, Faith, to Boston to meet with allies and State Representatives. She is fighting to help reduce the time it takes to seal a CORI, so that she can fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse.
Delia Sanchez, Vice President
Delia is training to become a community organizer. She is gifted at both recruiting and one-to-one relationship building, and she is inspired by working to change the balance of power in the community. She worked previously for Inquilinos Boriquas en Acción in Boston's South End prior to her CORI, and she currently works for the Salvation Army here in Worcester.
Sarah Assefa, Treasurer
Sarah recently completed her masters degree at Clark University. While at Clark University, Sarah was active in Peaceworks and the Black Student Union, and studied environmental science and international development. She is spearheading EPOCA's research into a possible business enterprise, while helping maintain our accounts. Sarah has been an active member for two years, and is among our most passionate champions of justice for all people.
Emma Bradley, Secretary
Emma has been a leader in EPOCA for over a year and a half, inspiring all our members with her courage to speak truth to power, no matter what the circumstance. She is also skilled in the culinary arts and in caring for elderly people, two professions in which she has had difficulty with employment despite having only a minor record from ten years ago.
Jenna Knight, Communicator
Jenna is a leader of the organization REDD (Rights, Equality, and Dignity of the Disabled) and first became involved in EPOCA when she invited us to speak at their meeting. She recently completed a training course through the Genesis Club, but was denied an internship because of her CORI. She was one of five women who represented EPOCA at the U.S. Social Forum in Atlanta this summer.
Jermaine Carter, Advisor
Jermaine was the chairman of the Alternatives to Violence Project while serving time in Concord State Prison, and he was also a leader in the “Scared Straight” program. He is a strong organizational thinker, and brings fresh ideas to EPOCA. He is particularly committed to working with young people and sharing the lessons he learned from his own youthful mistakes.
Prince Dennis, Coordinator
Prince is a sharp political thinker and leader who came to EPOCA through the New Leaf program. Within days, he was visiting legislators to stand up for the Public Safety Act, and within a few weeks he was nominated and elected to our board of directors. Prince came to Worcester from Ghana as a youth, educated himself and became a professional youth counselor, only to lose his job for an offense he did not commit, and which resulted in a Not Guilty verdict.
